Finally, after years of busting my butt to make life easier, we are taking our richly deserved, very first real family vacation beginning Sunday morning. Sure, as many of you know, we’ve taken many cross country road trips, the mountains, and so on, but none to be considered real vacations.
To us, what makes this one so special is that we planned, well my wife planned, every single day with multiple activities to do and see. The best part… it’s all been paid for well in advance. Cash is king baby!
Of course all the financial decision-making and planning credits go directly to my wonderful wife. Without her financial savvy we would still be living in downtown Atlanta dodging the inner city culture of predatory violence that owns the ATL. Ask the owners of the Atlanta Braves why they decided to move out of Atlanta.
After many months of saving, and planning we were able to purchase our new home in the beautiful city of Newnan, Georgia. My wife and I have worked so hard to achieve our financial peace, so on Sunday morning we load up our gas guzzling SUV and hit the road Jack , headed to Charleston.
Why Charleston? Well because it’s a gorgeous town enriched with history and lots of family fun things to experience. Our two little girls love the beach, my wife loves the old world architecture and street photography opportunities that Charleston has to offer, and I love the history of old Charleston.
An entire nine days away from my ponderous job is desperately needed at this time in my life. I could write a novel on that topic. Not today.
Oh, and by the way, we do have a house sitter in case anyone decides to take advantage of our escape. I got burglarized once after leaving for a trip, it aint gonna happen again. Nothing gets the adrenaline flowing like a phone call from a police dispatcher asking if anyone is supposed to be in your home after you’ve left for a long road trip. Lucky for me that a neighbor heard the sounds of glass breaking and witnessed the burglar entering my apartment 5 minutes after I had driven away. To think that my wife had forgotten her camera and I had debated for a minute whether to turn the car around and head back home to retrieve it. Would have made a for a very interesting night walking in on an unsuspecting burglar. Can you say DRT? Of course I did turn around after being notified and as it turned out, the burglar was my next door neighbor who was on probation out of California for….burglary. Go figure.
I digress. Anyways, you folks can see what we’re up to by checking out our Instagram pics that we’ll be posting periodically. You can follow us with Hashtag #NewnanBull beginning on Sunday, Mothers Day.
To all you mothers out there, I hope you have a wonderful Sunday! -JRoycroft
